Heading for Medford

We left Lebanon about 230pm on the 14th. It was cold and foggy and it stayed that way almost all the way to Medford. We spent the night at
Valley of the Rogue State Park North of Medford about 14 miles and went into town to have supper with our number one son, Travis, and some friends Pat and Karen that I knew from working at Farmer Brothers.
We had a good time chatting and left the restaurant about 10pm.

On the way down we had some problems with low truck tires due to improperly installed extender valves. We got that taken care of and headed on our way.
It was cold in Medford and real foggy. We we left the fog stayed with us till we started up the pass out of Ashland. It cleared up and was nice and sunny but cold.
The drive thru the mountains south to Redding was nice but we had areas of fog all the way. Seems to be the year for fog.
Once we got past Redding CA the temperature climbed up to 70 and we have had nice warm weather since. We stayed the night at a casino in Corning called Rolling Hills. They have a parking lot set up for Truckers and RVers with nice level, wide parking spaces. Very nice "campground"!!

We decided to go down I-5 to Bakersfield instead of hwy 99 as last fall when we came thru Hwy 99 was pretty rough. We made the correct decision as I-5 was in great condition. It looks like they had repaved it recently and it was smooth driving all the way to Bakersfield.

Fuel prices seem to run about the same as Oregon for Diesel but gas is higher in California. It runs from 1.90 up to 2.25 for regular. Diesel is about 2.20 to 2.40 but in some cases we saw it as high as 2.80.
We are now in a Flying J parking lot in Parker AZ just across the border from Blythe CA. It is a nice place to spend the night also. Very large parking area and we parked with some other RVers clear in the back corner.
We will be heading into Quartzsite today and finding a parking area for a couple of days. Our friends will be coming over from Apache Junction on monday and we will run around and see the sights. It should be fun!!
